Host Jim Benson interviews directors Guillermo del Toro and Jeannot Szwarc in a tribute to Rod Serling and his classic horror series, Night Gallery.
In this, the first part of a two-hour interview and tribute to Rod Serling’s Night Gallery, host Jim Benson is joined by two extraordinary directors, Guillermo del Toro and Jeannot Szwarc. Guillermo del Toro is one of the industry’s top film directors, helming Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, winning the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Picture. A lifelong fan of Night Gallery, Mr. del Toro’s audio commentary can be heard in the DVD release of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery Season Two.
Night Gallery’s most prolific director, Jeannot Szwarc was responsible for many of the finest episodes of the series, including the classic segment, The Caterpillar-hailed by Stephen King as the most frightening TV episode ever. He also directed the classic fantasy film Somewhere in Time and dozens of TV series including Kojak, Columbo and Heroes.

In this segment, host Jim Benson asks directors Guillermo del Toro and Jeannot Szwarc how they started their directorial careers, Jeannot’s relationship with Rod Serling and working with Vincent Price. Mr. del Toro talks about his audio commentary for the Night Gallery DVD and Jeannot’s direction of the classic episodes Big Surprise and Sins of the Fathers.
